Q: Why would I rent a Land Rover (Defender, 110, or 90)?
A: Because they're awesome.  Well, we think they are anyway.... They're no luxury ride but they're built like no other.

Q: How easy are the roof top tents to set-up and pack away?
A: Easy, it takes a few minutes to set-up the tent, and about the same to pack them away. We're happy to show you how, and when you pick up the vehicle you will receive instructions.  

Q: Where are the vehicles located / where do I pick them up and drop them off?
A: Ponsonby in central Auckland.  We also have a location in Christchurch. Please contact us if you plan to pick-up and return in different locations (standard pickup / drop-off is in Auckland). If you have specific requirements let us know. We can arrange alternate locations - a fee may apply.

Q: How do I get to Ponsonby from the airport?
A: We recommend they are the cheapest if you book in advance and pay with cash ($45)

Q: What about insurance?
A: Standard excess is $1,000. Drivers aged under 21 incur an additional $1,000 excess, and drivers aged between 21 and 25 an additional $500.

Q: What type of payment do you accept / how can I pay?
A: We accept Visa and MasterCard at no additional charge.  American Express/AMEX will incur a 3% fee in addition to the rental.

Q: How do I pay?
A: Please click through our 'book now' link below. There is a $500 non-refundable holding deposit for all bookings. There is also a bond held which is in the amount of insurance excess applicable to the driver dependent on age.

Q: Are there any additional fees to pay?
A: We aim to provide an all inclusive price other than a couple minor things. The first 1,000km diesel road-user charges are included; an extra cost of $60 per 1,000km for our diesel vehicles after your first 1,000km is charged at the end of your rental. GST (which is tax) also has to be charged which goes to the government. If you don't fancy cleaning the vehicle at the end of the hire you can pay a fee for us to clean it for you.  If you incur costs when hiring the vehicle (eg: tolls etc) you are liable to pay those. 

Q: Can I romp it off-road?
A: No.  We love our Landys and need to be able to hire them out for the next Landys fan.  This means you are expected to treat them with respect and not off-road them recklessly.   For further information on on where you can and can't drive it please refer to our Terms and Conditions, or speak to us.  

Q: What happens if I need to return the vehicle early?
A: Refunds are not usually granted for early returns and are only provided in exceptional circumstances and at the sole discretion of Trekker.  

Q: Are NZ road rules different than overseas?
A: Some rules may differ, depending on your country of origin. We ask that you take the visiting driver training programme by clicking this link.
